Det är intressant att Hobbes väljer att säga att total frihet (från lagar, institutioner, kungar) är lika med ett slags krigstillstånd. Att frihet ger krig och att ofrihet ger fred. Utan en makt som håller oss alla i schack kan var och en göra som den vill mot den andre, vilket leder till att alla börjar misstro varann och börjar förbereda sig och i förlängningen föra krig mot den andre. Tänk på det.
